A New Front Door Color

I gave my front door a subtle makeover.  I have to admit, the difference in color is barely noticeable.

But truthfully, I didn't love the old color.  It was leftover paint from our bedroom.  The color looks much darker on our walls, which I love.

So I selected a darker color, Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball(matched to Sherwin Williams paint).

I was in love after the first coat!

The color looks so good next to the bright white trim.  Glidden, White on White is my favorite white paint to use in our house.  It's clean and bright and the color is consistent in shade or sun.

A clean door mat, healthy plants and a few pumpkins give my porch a warm welcome.

I'm happy that I didn't have to spend a lot to give my house some curb appeal.

I'm absolutely happy with the new color.  I love it even more every time I pull up to the house.

  17. I love it! It's earthier than the previous color and looks great with the brick on the house. Well done! (I write this as I'm currently gaining courage to paint the inside of our front door. The white is so boring and I think a little color in the foyer would be fun!)

  24. It's beautiful! I love how something as simple as a color change can make you smile every time you look at it. Paint really can work wonders. I keep thinking of painting my (tiny) porch ceiling light blue, but haven't yet. Maybe someday. :)
