Confetti Painted Glasses

I was inspired by this pin on Pinterest to try my hand at painting glass.  Jennifer's glasses were inspired by Zandi at Radical Possibility who, in turn, was inspired by Anthropologie.

I was unable to find stemless wineglasses, so I used these tall glasses instead(purchased at Dollar Tree).

I used regular acrylic paint and the bottom of a paintbrush and pencil to create my dots.

To "cure" the glasses, I followed Jennifer's instructions and put the glasses in a cold oven.  I set the temperature to 350 degrees and baked them for 30 minutes.  After 30 minutes passed, I turned the oven off and allowed the glasses to cool completely before removing them.

The tutorial states that the glasses are dishwasher safe.  But I played it safe and hand-washed them to avoid any chipping.

I really like the way they turned out.  These would make great, inexpensive gifts too.

Mossy Rock Planter

I have a large tree stump outside in the yard that I use to display potted plants on.  Last week, it was raining and the wind blew hard enough to knock my planter over and cause it to break.  Boo-hoo!  I went searching for a replacement, but didn't find anything within my budget that I liked.  But that didn't stop me!  I created my own using inexpensive supplies for a cheap garden accent.

Supplies used:
metal can
rocks(purchased at Dollar Tree)
moss covered rocks(purchased at Dollar Tree)
glue gun

Squeeze a large amount of glue onto rocks then place rocks onto metal can.  Fill in gaps with moss cut into small pieces.  Sheet moss would work best, but the Dollar tree near me was all out.

You're done!  Fill with soil and add plants.

I think it turned out OK, no?

I placed my finished planter outside with hope that it will survive our next rainstorm.

Pomegranate Orange Juice for One

I love pomegranate juice.   The sweet-tart fruit offers many health benefits.  The seeds kind of taste like a combination of cranberry and cherry juice.  I usually buy bottled juice from the supermarket.  This week though, I thought it would be fun to make my own.

The easiest way I've come across to extract the juice was by using my citrus juicer. This works, but the process can be messy!

Mixed with fresh squeezed orange juice and you have the perfect morning cocktail, without the alcohol -of course!

Ingredients
juice from one pomegranate
juice from 2 freshly squeezed oranges

Directions
Use a citrus juicer to extract the juice from both fruits.  Pour into a tall glass and stir to combine.  Add ice and enjoy!

Ombre Friendship Bracelet

Do you remember making friendship bracelets when you were young?  I remember making these all the time when I was a kid.  Friendship bracelets seem to be making a comeback.  They are fun and pretty simple to make once you get the hang of it.

This was a great project to do for my daughter.  My daughter loves jewelry, and I knew she would love it if I made a bracelet for her.  I started by purchasing some embroidery floss in color combinations that she liked, but in the end we decided to use similar shades for an ombre effect.

After all these years my memory was a bit rusty, so I turned to Youtube for some help.  I found the instructions in this video to be most helpful.

The main knots used for making friendship bracelets are the right knot and a left knot.

I made this bracelet using a double right hand knot, as seen here.

Once you learn the basics, there's practically no limit to the designs you can make!

Watermelon Slush

Ah summer... Summer is the best time for fun drinks to cool off with. Summertime is coming to a close, but it's not over yet.

I've been celebrating these last few weeks of summer with a cool drink in hand.  Most afternoons my family and I will make a quick stop by our local Sonic for a frozen treat.  Today I decided to stay home and combine flavors that we enjoy best into a flavorful slush.

Juicy sweet watermelon and freshly squeezed lime juice make this drink a favorite in our house!

Ingredients

2 cups seedless watermelon
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
1 cup ice
1/4 cup sugar(you can add more or less depending on your taste)
Directions

In blender, combine watermelon and lime juice.  Add sugar, then ice cubes a few at a time. Blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Budget Bathroom Makeover

*Before

I was growing tired of our old bathroom.  It felt dull and dingy.  I set out to update the space with a small budget.

*After

Although we went with darker paint, it feels much brighter and livelier.

I found this wooden tray at the thrift store.  It was originally brown.  I gave it a makeover with paint and accessories.

I love this plant(Southern Mimosa).  The leaves fold up at night.

I purchased the glass jars at TJ Maxx a few years ago. I've seen similar jars at Home Goods.

The some of the artwork is actually framed greeting cards ordered from Etsy.

I purchased the shower curtain for around $20 at Marshall's.

Our friend that helped out in our kitchen added trim around the ceiling.

He changed out the light fixture for us too, from Hinkley lighting.

Basket under the vanity for extra toilet paper.

View from our bedroom.

The rug was purchased at Target for cheap.

I purchased the small stool at a yard sale for a few dollars.  I gave it a quick makeover with spray paint.

The driftwood art was purchased at Home Goods for less than $20.

I added rocks to the plants to hide the exposed dirt.

View out of the bathroom window.

The only window is inside of the shower.

Our backyard is full of trees, so privacy isn't an issue.

Greeting card ordered from here.

A small hook for my robe or towels.

I am pleased that I was able to give our bathroom a fresh, new look without spending a lot of money.
