Simple Fall Shelf Decor

Even though it's still so hot here in Atlanta, I did a little fall decorating in my kitchen.

I enjoy changing the decor on the shelves each season.

After a quick trip to Target with my daughter, I was inspired to add more warmth and texture to our kitchen shelves.

Target's new fall collection makes me want to spend all my money!  Instead, I showed some restraint and didn't buy stuff I didn't need.  I shopped my house, grabbed items stored in upper cabinets and refreshed the shelves for free!

I was so happy to find white pumpkins in my area.

I added a couple to the vegetable bowl on the kitchen island, creating a fall accent.

I just love this time of year.  I thumbed through my cookbook for meal ideas.  As soon as the weather gets a bit cooler, I'm breaking out the crock pot for delicious dinners at home.

As the weekend rolls around, I want to begin sprucing our porch up too.

Although we'll have temps in the 90s for a few more days, my mind has switched over to pumpkins, wreaths and raking leaves.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Frosty and Refreshing Basil Lemonade

The smell of basil reminds me of summer.  I love cooking with it.  The fresh flavor adds a nice punch to recipes.  It's so versatile.  One of my favorite seasonal flavors is the basil gelato sold at Whole Foods.  It's next on my things to make!

This recipe was inspired by a drink I had at a local cafe.  My twist makes it equally refreshing, by blending the ingredients to create a frosty drink.

One sip and it takes you away to someplace tropical.

 Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
juice from about 7 medium-size lemons
about 12 basil leaves
1 cup water
ice

Directions

Place ingredients into blender and blend until combined and texture is smooth.  Makes enough for two glasses.  One for you and one to share with a friend!
