Fall 2019 One Room Challenge/Guest Participant Week 4

Welcome back to another week of One Room Challenge updates...

Yikes, week four already?!  Time is flying by!

A few things I ordered for the room are beginning to arrive.  I found a small side table to hold drinks on Pottery Barn's website.  I plan to tuck it alongside the reclining seat of our sectional.

It was easy to assemble, in about 20 minutes or less.

As a reminder, here are a couple before picture of our family room.  I cringe!  Thankfully, my decor is always evolving.

This week, I hope to share our new ceiling fans installed.  Crossing my fingers our contractor friend can pencil us in!

Thank you for following along!

Fall 2019 One Room Challenge/Guest Participant Week 3

We are officially at the halfway point of the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge.

This week's updates will be really quick.  It's my son's high school homecoming football game day!

So let's get the ball rolling...

I mentioned last week that I would be painting the pine tables that I purchased from IKEA.  One down, one more to go!  Walmart sells an unfinished desk with a flip down drawer that I considered also.

I almost stained them, but to balance the different wood tones throughout the room, I went with black paint.

Also, painting the room white makes it feel clean and spacious.  I have been touching up the baseboards.  Although daunting, I love the look of crisp-white trim.

I'm feeling pretty good about my progress.  I've accomplished a lot, but my to-do list is still long!

See you back here next week!

Fall 2019 One Room Challenge/Guest Participant Week 2

A few days late, but I'm still here working away on my family room as a guest participant in the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda at Calling it Home.

My husband was in a car accident, after dropping my son off at school.  Thankfully he and the other driver are just fine.  Life happens, so blogging took a backseat.

As I mentioned before, I'm giving our family room a much needed makeover.  It's a nice size space that I plan to make cozy.  I also want to create a work area, so my son has place to do homework and eat a snack, while I work from the laptop.

IKEA INGO Table
I purchased two pine tables from IKEA, that I plan to paint black.  I wanted a work space where we could spread things out. I love the minimal look of the table and IKEA's low prices.

We have a leather sectional already in the room.  It's a great lounge spot. It cleans easily and I don't have to worry about messy kids or dogs.

To make it extra cozy, I plan to layer in pillows and throws. The linen Euro shams I ordered arrived in the mail and I can't wait to arrange them on the sofa(after having them dry cleaned).

Our old rug was water damaged.  I replaced it with another natural fiber rug.  I'm inspired by the look of layering a statement rug atop a jute, so I may go that route if I can work it in the budget.

I'm excited to share more updates with you as I find the right accessories to bring this room to life!

As always, thank you for stopping by. Be sure to visit the ORC guest participant linkup and discover all the other projects and meet new people.

Fall 2019 One Room Challenge/Guest Participant Week 1

Hey friends!  I’m excited to share that I’ll be participating in the One Room Challenge, as a guest participant!  The One Room Challenge is a biannual event hosted by Linda at Calling It Home, where bloggers are challenged to make over a room in six weeks and post their progress weekly.  To keep you up to date, stop by the ORC blog to check out all of the other featured designers and guest participants.

I updated our guest room in the fall of 2017.  This time around, I'm joining the fun to complete our family room.

I'm excited my husband finally agreed to say goodbye to the movie posters that have hung on the walls for many years.  As much as I loved staring at Ryan Gosling's face, it's time to say buh-bye!

I'm working with a small budget, so I'll be using a lot of the furniture that I already own.

I've already painted the walls white, to give them a fresh-crisp look.  The room already feels larger.  Paint is such an inexpensive way to update a room.

Stay tuned each Thursday for weekly updates.  If you like, you can follow me on Instagram to see more progress pictures before I post here on the blog!

I sincerely appreciate your continued support.
