Do you remember making friendship bracelets when you were young? I remember making these all the time when I was a kid. Friendship bracelets seem to be making a comeback. They are fun and pretty simple to make once you get the hang of it.
After all these years my memory was a bit rusty, so I turned to Youtube for some help. I found the instructions in this video to be most helpful.
The main knots used for making friendship bracelets are the right knot and a left knot.
I made this bracelet using a double right hand knot, as seen here.
Once you learn the basics, there's practically no limit to the designs you can make!
Your daughter WILL Love it! But don't ever get cheap with me. I want diamonds!

ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me how fashions repeat themselves. Just last night I was going through some old pictures and saw a 13-year old version of myself wearing the exact same look as I had on yesterday - color blocking at it's best! lol

Oh man I was crazy into making these! I even wrapped my embroidery thread on those cards and kept them in a case. I need to go out now and get some!!! I think I remember how to do it too! Attaching the knot to jeans or something stable was a good way to hold it while doing the knots. Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

ReplyDeleteI love this style. My oldest grandson (11) is making square knot bracelets as I type. I guess I should branch out and teach him another method... However, being the macho guy, he calls his SURVIVOR BRACELETS. :)
