We went back and forth deciding on colors, in the end we chose Krylon's Brick for the table top and Almond for the base.
This was my first time painting such a large piece of furniture, so I went online for a little help. I found the steps listed on Young House Love's site to be the most helpful. We started by lightly sanding the table. Then after wiping the table and chairs down with a dry cloth, we primed each piece with a spray primer. We waited for everything to dry completely before we spray painted each piece. The chairs received 3 coats while the table and base needed two. To protect the table top I coated it with a clear protective finish.
Spray painting the furniture proved to be fast and easy, but be careful of drips. We had a few here and there, but they can be easily fixed by sanding them smooth and re-spraying.
The table and chairs are so much nicer now. The colors work well together in her bright kitchen. Best of all my aunt loves it and I enjoyed helping her!
Great table and it looks fabulous in the kitchen. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteRound kitchen table makeovers are definitely a hot topic at the moment! I love that you did two-tones! I thought about doing that with mine, but I thought it would have been too much since my cabinets are already two-toned!

I also wanted to thank you for sharing the song, it brought tears and joy as my mind was flooded with memories. I definitely found my groove and start rockin! lol I needed that as this has not been a good week for me.
I lost my mom on February 24,2000 and my oldest brother on January 15, 2009!
Have a lovely day and thanks again for the moment in time. : )

Terrific table, I love round tables! You, as always, do such great job sweet Brandy and I love it in the kitchen. I've missed you, pretty girl! Have a great weekend.

Love it! Did you seal it with anything or is the spray paint hard enough to take the beating a kitchen table sometimes gets?
