When you spend all your allowance on video games or going to the mall with your friends, you have to get creative with presents. My children are known for their crafty cards for Mother's and Father's Day and they never fail to please us. Their personalities show in the cards and their father loves them enough to keep them in his drawer for memories. It's fun to look back on them and I decided to share with you a few of his favorites.
Our daughter is the typical Daddy's Girl. She leans towards her father for advice, casual conversations, and even hilarious impromptu dance sessions. With each card she makes, she exudes a quite crafty strategy that I like to call Laugh and Cry.
Her humor throughout her writing keeps the tears from falling too far on her father's face. He's not a crier, but when his favorite holiday comes around, a few tissues come in handy.
Our son takes a more minimalist approach, keeping it short and sweet (with little to no pictures, but a great writer doesn't need graphics!). It's quite beautiful how much my husband's heart is warmed around this time of year.
He'll be the first to admit he's made a bunch of flops, but our children never fail to hug and kiss him everyday. They never fail to display affection for him when he needs it most. They never fail to love him. So, it's funny when he looks at me with their Father's Day cards in his hands and a tear in his eye and he says, "I must be doing something right" because he does. He does something right every time!
He sounds like a great father (twerk team notwithstanding LOL) and I bet he loves this post if he reads it. And aren't hand-made cards the best?
ReplyDeleteI love a good fathers day story and this is a great one. Handmade cards are the best it comes from the heart.

Brandi, this is such a sweet post! I laughed out loud about the twerking! The love between your kids and their father is apparent. How sweet that he keeps their cards.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! What a great tribute to your hubby, kids, and Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that your hubby keeps all the cards his kids made for him. Yes, from the love expressed by your kids, your hubby obviously had done a lot of things right as a daddy:)
ReplyDeleteAww so sweet Brandi, you have great kids and a wonderful hubby and father. Twerk team though? lol I can just imagine.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby is awesome, Brandi and I love every one of the cards your kids made for their dad. I think it's great that he hung onto them... points for hubby!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet family you have! I got my first unassisted handmade Mothers day card this year and I cried like a baby! I hope your hubby has the greatest Father's day yet!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove the card with the snail and flowers. So cute and artsy
What a sweet family! Homemade cards are the best! My hubby keeps his cards in the drawer beside his bed too. He's already been hinting about what kind of chocolate he wants. I think he'd rather have turtle cookies instead of tools. Fine by me. Great post Brandi! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet post! Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby and some pretty wonderful kids too! Homemade cards are the best!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those cards are amazing!! That snail with the bouquet on his back was so clever, and your daughter on her daddy's neck, sweet. What great kids, and a good daddy too! :)

ReplyDeleteSo sweet!! I love getting handmade cards for me son, he's been known to forget a few 'special dates' too :)
ReplyDeleteSOO cute!
ReplyDeleteTwo thumbs up! What a great thing for your children to do for their Dad! I think homemade cards are the best because they do require at least SOME thought. Boys are generally less creative, but it doesn't mean they don't care...they are just being boys!
ReplyDeleteI love your husband's response to it all. What a good guy!
How sweet are those cards! I always love seeing the kids making their special cards for someone. The handmade cards are always the best!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet Brandi. Talib is a great dad and i am sure that the kids' gifts brings big tears. Such a nice post!
ReplyDeleteAw, those cards are so sweet - I definitely never had the creative talent to make either of my parents such nice gifts! The drawings of him? The snail with the flowers? I'm very impressed.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Handmade cards are the best!
ReplyDeleteIs there anything sweeter than homemade cards from our kids? I still have the ones my kids made, even though they are all grown up.
ReplyDeleteThe homemade cards your kids made for their dad are delightful, and so special.

Aw, dads are so precious. It was sweet to hear about how your daughter is a daddy's girl. That brings back a lot of memories of my own father. He was definitely an ear to listen and a comedian when I needed cheering up. He passed away several years ago and I always feel sad when I see children disrespecting their fathers because I wish I still had mine. It's good to see a family where they appreciate their father. :)
ReplyDeleteAww this post is precious, those cards are so adorable! You're blessed to have such a lovely family :) x
