My son is pretty good at keeping his room clean, however despite having the laundry hamper right outside his bedroom he leaves his dirty clothes all over his room and bathroom floor after he showers. He tends to be forgetful!
So my solution was to create hanging hamper for his room. I was inspired by this idea on Martha Stewart’s website. I didn't have a pillowcase available, but I did have over a yard of fabric I received from Online Fabric Store in our Haven Conference- swag bags. I started by staining my embroidery hoop; not a necessary step, I just wanted mine darker. Then with my fabric a sewed a very simple pillowcase then folded the fabric around the embroidery hoop. I wrapped some twine around the hardware to create a loop for hanging.
A simple solution without taking up any floor space.
And now there are no more clothes on the floor! I wonder why I didn't think of this solution sooner.
That is perfect, Brandi! I love this idea for a boy's room. They just love to 'shoot hoops'! I really like the fabric, too. Hope the beginning of your week is happy! xo
ReplyDeleteWell, this is so clever I can't even believe it . I love it. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me party this afternoon. www.astrollthrulife.net. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Brandi, What a fabulous idea, I wish I had known about this brilliant laundry bag when my two girls were teenagers. For some reason or another, they boycotted the laundry bin and they always used to leave a trail of clothes around their rooms. Your laundry bag would have solved the problem. I am going to pass this idea onto my niece who has a teenage son. Fingers crossed it makes him a little tidier.

This is so cool Brandi!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGenius! Love this idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really clever and chic laundry basket, what a great idea. Staining the embroidery hoop makes it look so much richer.
ReplyDeletePerfect solution! I may need to build one of these for my kids once they get a little bigger :)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea and its different.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love the fabric too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea! I wonder if I could get Dave to use one of those. He's kind of a kid. Love the fabric! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect for so many things, toys and more. Love the fabric!

ReplyDeleteNow that's clever! I need to make one for Tom :) miss you Brandi.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing. I so wish I was crafty. I purchased a rolling hamper for our laundry room and it already broke because the kids were riding in it. I now need a new solution. I MAY give this a whirl. I probably need something that isn't on the floor.
ReplyDeleteSmart woman you are!!! I love it Brandi. I'm so obsessed with stripes right now. Another awesome addition to a great room
ReplyDeleteSo smart Brandi!! I love this idea! xo Kristin

What an excellent idea! I'm using this! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Brandi. My grandson is good about picking his clothes up after a shower BUT when he changes out of his school uniform in the afternoon, on the floor it goes and there it stays. I have a feeling I am going to be making one of these!
ReplyDeletegreat idea! Seems pretty simple and looks to hold lots of laundry! Exactly what I need for my boys!

ReplyDeleteBrandi, I am so proud of you. I absolutely love your blog. We use to talk about our creative sides and now you're putting your talent to good use. You inspire me to do the same! I am currently researching ideas to design and make my own comforter set! I am also going to repaint my bed frame( headboard and foot board). So to make a long story short, thanks for the extra push and YOU GO GIRL!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out really cute. I like the print you chose, and I must say you're really good at taking pictures! I wish I could get mine to look as fabulous as yours. :)
ReplyDeleteXOXO,

Where was this fantastic idea when my boys were younger..looks great
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Would be great to do in school colors or fabric!
ReplyDeleteOhh, what a great idea! I might have to make my own for my son's room since we'll be needing some extra space in there soon. Thanks for linking up at Whatever Goes Wednesday. We'll be featuring this over at Someday Crafts tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteWow! This is plain genius! I'm glad I found your blog, and thanks for your sweet comment on my laundry room.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea Brandi! My son is just a little older than yours so his clothes are bigger and not many would fit in there anymore:( but this is so adorable for a younger child!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this easy easy project with us! Pinning it now on to my kids spaces board...
Now I know that this actually works. Lovely hamper. It's nice to create your own for things like this because you can color coordinate without paying an arm and a leg for it.
ReplyDeleteBrandi you are so creative! I think I need to make one for my husband ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I like this. So much prettier than the one I purchased. And kudos to you for raising a son that keeps his room clean. I have two and let's just say it's not pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing idea... You can make a laundry hamper to fit any decor! Quick question... do you take the whole thing to the laundry room or unscrew the embroidery hoop?
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. For them is just like playing basket, I guess that's what motivates them to use it, so ingenious!
