The last couple of months I spent my free time working in the laundry room. Lots of painting, cleaning and organizing. I spend a lot of time doing laundry, so I wanted to create a more cheerful space.
Before picture and link to old post |
When we first moved into our home I painted the walls blue and added a bench for storage. Since then we added 2 more dogs to our family and while they were puppies they chewed everything in sight; including our chair, storage bench, baskets, floor and walls. It was that bad!! With so much to do in the house, over the years our laundry room took a backseat to other projects.
Eventually my dogs out grew puppyhood and stopped chewing. So it was time to give our laundry room a proper makeover.
The walls are painted Revere Pewter, by Benjamin Moore matched to Glidden Paint.
The Roman shade remained, but I switched out the pillow case curtains. I added simple clip rings so I could open and close the curtains with ease.
Pillow cases are from Target, in case you're interested!
Plants are a great addition to any room.
Art and frames are from Ikea.
We choose vinyl flooring with a wood grain pattern from Home Depot.
Having 3 dogs with muddy paws I needed something that was easy to keep clean. We've had it in place for a few years and I love it.
A metal hanging rack from Home Goods keeps our cleaning supplies organized.
The water heater is stored in the closet.
I couldn't wait to give this door a makeover. It took me a time long to settle on a color. In the end I chose Sherwin Williams, Outer Space matched to Glidden Paint. It feels so much fresher. The perfect accent to the neutral walls.
I've fallen hard for natural fiber rugs. They're simple with lots of texture. And they're easy to care for with the dogs.
This door opens to our back yard.
I shared our DIY pipe shelves on Home Depot's, The Apron Blog.
It was also time for a new light. I wanted something clean and simple. This fixture fit my style perfectly.
It's also from Home Depot. The brand is Home Decorators Collection. The style is, Bowl Pendant. We purchased it in the store.
I love the idea of open shelving. The double shelves add so much extra storage space.
I had a lot fun shopping for accessories.
I found the dipped stool online, at Serena & Lily. Dustpan is from The Magnolia Market. Brooms are from Home Goods and the carpet beater is from World Market.
Paint really livened our laundry room up. I enjoy having such a bright space to do chores.
Thank you all so much for stopping by!

I love the accessories you chose. I revamped the laundry room in our last house and it made such a difference in my attitude towards doing laundry.
ReplyDeleteI love it Brandi. My laundry room is so neglected. Hoping to fix it up soon and add functionality. Yours is so nice!
ReplyDeleteI agree that when you send so much time in the laundry room, it should look pretty. I'm happy that your dogs outgrew their puppy chewing stage, and now you can have pretty again. We love our pets, but when they are babies, they can be mischievous :) Brandi, your laundry room is lovely, so fresh and clean . . . I love the colors you choose and the floor. You certainly have an eye for color and design.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that your Easter was wonderful and that you are finally experiencing spring weather.
Connie :)
Perfect Brandi! Love the lighting you chose and love how clean the room feels!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I am just hoping to finish the deep clean for my laundry room this spring. Maybe next year I will be inspired to do something different with the decor (or lack of decor)

ReplyDeleteI love it! Something about a pretty, bright laundry room, that makes laundry less daunting! I love that dust pan and the wall hooks.
ReplyDeleteOkay, first of all, you have the most adorable dogs!!! And I totally need a carpet beater and one of those cute dustpans from Magnolia!!! You have a beautiful laundry room! I love the colors, rug, accessories, etc. And the size of it is great! My laundry room is almost like a closet. Lol! You did a great job and I bet it's actually a little fun to do laundry now. :)

Wow Brandi, you did a great job! I love it all. The door color is so pretty and all of your accessories and shelving are perfect. Can I tell you how much I love that light fixture, oh my goodness it looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your laundry room makeover. The color choices you chose this time really open up the space. The open shelving and the light fixture are gorgeous. I honestly thought you were going to say you made the light fixture. Reminds me of a cake plate...or I might just bit a little bit hungry. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am loving your shelves my laundry room looks a hot mess.....but it doesn't take much to spruce it up. I don't have a home decor bone in my body smh
ReplyDeleteYour laundry room's before photo is so pretty. It's the "after" effect that I can only dream to achieve for my laundry area.
ReplyDeleteI love your laundry room makeover. It looks so clean and organized. The light fixture is gorgeous and I am loving that blue door.
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I was scrolling for close ups of your red doggie? After putting our Maddie girl down in February, any time I see a four legged kid that might look like her, I get a wee bit emotional. So it wouldn't hurt my feelings if you posted a pic of her face. :) And as for the actual comment you were lookin' for, the laundry room turned out beautiful. ;) The curtains are my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, every detail is so great. I love everything about your new space, want me to fold your towels?
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Brandi! So bright and clean and organized.
ReplyDeleteLove your new space Brandi! I like all of your changes and I have to find some place to hang that light fixture in my house.

ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Easter!
hugs!
Very bright and sunny! It turned out great Brandi. Hope you had a beautiful Easter! Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I can't believe that floor is vinyl. And the paint color really liven up the room, I feel like lighter paint is hott right now. At least for me & the blogs I read it is. And where did you snag those square picture frames? I grabbed a similar one from Target/Kohl's can't remember, I'm wondering if it's the same.
ReplyDeleteYour laundry room looks great, Brandi. I think my favorite part might be the new light fixture - it's gorgeous! Oh, and of course, I love your new shelves too! You did such a great job.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi! I'll bet you are loving your laundry room - it really looks great. Absolutely stunning light fixture and great rug - super color. Jane

ReplyDeleteBrandi
ReplyDeleteYou have such good taste! Even your laundry room is lovely.
I want to paint my interior entry door and I love the colour you chose for yours!
Wow, I'm quite impressed with your new and improved laundry room. I love blue doors, especially as an exterior color ~ I never had the chance to do it on the old house and now I have a huge wooden door that I wouldn't think of painting. Your new room is well organized and there is plenty of space for the dogs too! How fun ~ I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteBrandi! Your laundry room is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job keeping it functional and practical - - yet beautiful!
Love everything you do, sweet Gal!
Thanks for sharing the inspiration,
Suzanne

Love your new laundry room, Brandi! The light, those shelves, the color...So inviting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous laundry room you've created Brandi! The revere pewter definitely brightens it up and makes it feel so fresh and airy! Love the beautiful accessories and decor. That pic of your son with the dogs is adorable. x
ReplyDeleteI love it all! I have one question though - I love all glass light fixtures but worry about how it looks when it's dark out and the light is on. Does the lightbulb glare in your eyes? Is it harsh light? I know there's a world of fancier bulbs like edison bulbs, but I need real light, nothing that's dim. Nice work on creating such a great space!!
ReplyDeleteBrandi…I was hoping you would share this!
ReplyDeleteBrandi, I always love your work! :) Isn't it nice to have a clean, functional, and beautiful laundry room?! You have done a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya about having a messy laundry room. Mine is a disaster zone. Ugh!
What a pleasant space to work in. And those pipe shelves...wow. I will be referring that post to a few people. And know that you have solved two problems for me. How to keep my piles of hand towels neat and where to put a wire basket I have left over from the barn sale. I'll put them together. I never thought of that for some reason until I saw your paper towels
ReplyDeleteBrandi this space came out so great!! I love the styling - the shelves above the washer & dryer are awesome, I have been wanting to make some like that for my son's room and you just sealed the deal!
ReplyDeleteWow, Brandi this is killer!! A makeover of our laundry room is on my 2015 to-do list and this is the perfect inspiration. I really love how you created your shelves - they look awesome! Oh, and I just might have to get that light fixture too - right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so fresh and clean - love the paint colors, especially the blue door.
ReplyDeleteI use sheets too, but I really like your idea of pillowcases for cafe curtains! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBrandi, your laundry room looks fantastic! We have a new puppy that chews everything in sight I am glad to hear yours grew out of it!
ReplyDeleteBrandi, your laundry room is beautiful! I'm over from I Heart Organizing. Your light fixture is just what I've been looking for for my laundry room. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to check Home Depot.
