Vertical Succulent Garden

I've always loved the idea of a vertical or hanging garden.  I thought they were pretty clever!  They're a great alternative for someone who doesn't have a lot of gardening space.  There are plenty of tutorials online if you'd like to make your own.

 

I considered it, but found a cheaper solution at Ross.

When I spotted it, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

I lined the bottom of the form with a coconut basket, that I cut to fit.  I planted succulents and waited a few months to see how well they did in the shade before I added more.

   

These spoon markers are the perfect accessory.

Most cacti or succulents are drought tolerant and do not require much care.  Since I was planting in the shade I chose plants that were part sun.

The plants are filling in nicely.

Even with all the dirt and plants it's not heavy.  I attached it to the house with 2 screws.

I am worried about the winter though.  I may have to bring it indoors.

  

  

But for now I'm going to sit back and enjoy my little garden.
