I absolutely love moulding! It just changes the look and feel of the rooms in my house. Over the years we've added it to most of the rooms and lately I'd been thinking a lot about beefing up the walls in our entry and staircase. So we decided to have chair rail and picture frame moulding installed.
We still have a long way to go, but so far I'm loving the results. I plan to paint the walls above the chair rail Revere Pewter(same as the L.R. and D.R.), by Benjamin Moore(matched to Glidden Paint) and the area below will be painted a creamy white.
As you know, one change leads to another! So we'll be saying goodbye to our old light fixture and replacing it with something simple.
We're also adding an electrical outlet, so I can finally add a lamp to the entry table. Lamps create such nice ambiance don't you think?!
I have plans to create a photo gallery along the stair wall; something I have wanted to do for a long time!
Our contractor friend is doing most of the work(I'm in charge of caulking-n-painting), but his schedule is quite full already, so it's been a bit of a challenge to find time to finish things up and that makes patience even harder to practice.

So a few boring-before pictures to share with you today. Hopefully I'll have some progress pictures in a few!
Love what you're doing. It's going to look great!
ReplyDeleteMoulding is always a good thing!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I would love to add some molding to our front staircase.
ReplyDeleteNice Brandi! molding adds a lot of character to a space. It's already looking great.
ReplyDeleteI love molding too! IN our first home, we added it ourselves and were so proud. So far with this house, we haven't delved into it yet, I'm sure once it's all done, it'll look really nicer inside your home. The gallery wall by the stairs seems like a fantastic idea, go for it!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to look great. Moulding always adds a great touch to things. Don't you just love handy building friends. :)
ReplyDeleteI also love moulding. It adds an elegance to a room. We added it to our entrance and dining room. The entrance is a taupe below the moulding and the wall above it is a creamy white. So nice. I never get tired of looking at it. I really like your the projects you have taken on. Before and after photos are good to have.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!
Moulding makes me happy too! We've added some to our house, but we have a lot to do still. Yours is going to look great! I love picture frame moulding. We cheated in our dining room and just painted below the chair rail white and then put up picture frame moulding right on top of the textured wall. Then we painted the moulding white too. I love a lamp on the entry table and you'll be so happy with the photo gallery along the stair wall! I love those!
ReplyDeleteI love all the wonderful ideas and changes you have for your beautiful home Brandi.
ReplyDeleteI love the difference that moulding makes in a room. I think it adds such a finished look! Lovely!
ReplyDeletecaulking and painting molding and trim is my enemy...but it looks SO good after!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and you are right - molding makes it all better. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I wasn't renting because I would love to add moulding to every one of my rooms. I can't wait to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteI love molding too, it really takes a room to the next level! Yay for adding a new outlet! :)
ReplyDeleteI love molding too and the photo gallery wall will look gorgeous above the molding on the stairs.
ReplyDeleteI love molding we have some in our dining area but that's about it. I would love some in the den.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will look great. I am dying to do the same around my living room windows and get rid of the curtains.......
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, moldings make me really happy too! Your entrance is going to look fabulous when you're done ;)
ReplyDeleteI dream of molding! No, really. I do.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have what it takes to install it, however. Mostly, I lack patience.
My brother warned me to NEVER ask the Good Lord for patience, though. He said he did and God gave him the most trying few weeks of his life! LOL!
I cannot wait to see it complete. Give us all the details!

Where have you been? It's great to see what you've been up to. The moulding is a game changer! Just so you know, I have my upstairs bedroom painted BM Revere Pewter and LOVE it. Great choice.... ;)

I can "see" it now, Brandi:) The chair rail is a great idea. I have two rooms that have border paper up right where I would love to put something. Of course, I won't know for sure what until I take the border off because the last time I did, oh my what a mess!
ReplyDeletePewter and creamy white are quite the canvas. And the photos up the stair wall will make a dramatic statement. I can't wait to see the progress. Thanks for sharing, Brandi...Good Luck:)
Lookin' good, Brandi! Molding can be an inexpensive way to add detail and charm to a home. Molding = Drool worthy. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love molding too! I hope that our next house has lots of it because neither husband or I is handy.
ReplyDeleteLots of character with the new look. You are going to love it as the years pass. It really adds a lot to the overall look and feel of a room!
ReplyDeleteI hope your guy is able to get crackin' on the project soon. I know you're anxious to finish it up so you can enjoy it!!!
Nice Brandi! I love moulding! But who doesn't.
ReplyDeleteOkay Brandi I feel like I need to be honest here...I have never ever done moulding; after reading your post I know there's something missing in my life...
ReplyDeleteThe new moldings are fabulous, Brandi!! They will add a ton of value to your home. Looking forward to seeing your gallery wall.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend ahead,
Loi
I'm a big fan of lamps too! I have way to many at my house. They are just so much cozier than overhead light. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see the finished product! I love mouldings too!
Can't wait to see the final results! Happy moulding...
ReplyDeleteGreat call on the electrical outlet for the lamps! I love how moulding can dress up a space and yours look great!
ReplyDeleteRevere pewter is my FAV color. I have it in my dining room and just used it again on my son's ceiling. Happy painting!
ReplyDeleteYour walls and molding look so fresh all painted, Brandi! Sadly, I am a person who enjoys the cutting in process. (OCD maybe?) I am looking forward to seeing more progress pics! Hope you have a great day!
