How to Prevent Your Candles from Leaning

A few weeks ago I picked up some brass candlesticks at a thrift store to use with my holiday decorations.  Only problem was, every candle I tried was smaller than the base causing the candles to lean.

Fast forward to recent trip to Hobby Lobby where I came across this great product for only $1.99.  Candle fitters are made of wax and will mold to easily fit any candle.

Simply tear off a strip of wax, break it into smaller pieces and wrap it around the candle base.

Problem solved, no more lean

  1. Brilliant! I brought out my candleholders I received as a wedding present 3 years ago for the first time this Thanksgiving and I kept getting annoyed at them falling. I had no idea this existed. Thank you!

  7. It beats the heck out of what I do. I usually drip wax into the holder then press the candle into the warm wax. Only problem was that the wax sometimes cools too fast and you have to keep doing it!

  11. Great tip Brandi! I love that stuff! I've also used Sticky Tack that you can find with the office supplies. They both work about the same.

  17. What a great invention! I used to wrap pieces of paper around my candle bases...but that's not so smart when you actually burn them :)

  22. Awesome! Just what I need, but where to find that wax? I'm going to search!

  23. How funny :)

I have the *opposite* problem. I find that today's candles are usually too thick at the bottoms for vintage candlesticks and holders, and I end up having to carve the bottoms to fit!

  25. I could've really, really used this advice back in the days. Lol. We'd purchase candles and within days they'd all assume the leaning position. Finally, we decided to buy the thicker candles instead.
