This desk belonged to me as a child. It traveled all the way from New Jersey with me just to sit in my garage, waiting for a makeover. Once summer break began, my first endeavor was to turn my childhood desk into a homework desk for my son to use.
I sanded then re-stained the wood with a Minwax stain. My original plan was to paint the metal chair base and table legs, but after cleaning them I decided not to paint.
After moving the desk up to my son's room we decided to rearrange his room a bit. Here are a few pics of his room...

What a nice heirloom to pass on to your son. I think it was a good call not to paint it. Just perfect for a boy. That tinkertoy container brought back memories.

ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome desk! You won't believe that I recently found an identical chair and was wondering what it went to. Its painted a chippy green and sits on a round metal base! I have a picture of it on my blog, not sure if you can see the whole chair but I'm so glad I found your blog so that I know my chair was part of an old school desk!
