I found a cute little wooden basket while at my favorite thrift store Monday afternoon.
The heart on the side didn't really appeal to me, but I bought it anyway assuming it would be easy to remove. It wasn't! In fact I almost took my finger off trying to remove it! Suddenly the heart didn't look so bad and I decided to carry on.
Before heading home, I picked up a few cans of spray paint, and some painters tape.
After a couple coats of Home Depot's no frills spray paint, I used my ruler to mark off vertical lines spaced 1 inch apart. I marked the lines with painter's tape and sprayed over it with Krylon's Classic Gray.
Do you like it? The stripes make me smile! : )

Of course I had to distress it a bit!

Hi Brandi-
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage-y chippy stripes you put on the basket. It is subtle but really makes the basket look very chic.

I have to admit, after hearing that the heart wouldn't come off, I wasn't sure...but you proved me WRONG! I love, love, love it!!
ReplyDeleteCute basket! I love the antiqued look.
ReplyDeleteBrandi, I am loving all of your latest projects! I haven't had as much time to catch up on reading my favorites, so I had to stop in and check on you! I have a little wooden basket that needs redoing too. Yours turned out so great. I am thinking I may have to wait for some spring/summer weather before I get to most of my painting projects...the weather here just is not cooperating with my to do list. :)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to check in and say Hi!
Blessings,
Holly

ReplyDeleteI did a shelf makeover awhile back~I think it cost 4.99 and was about waist high....some white paint, sanded edges and it now displays my mix of mixing bowls and cookbooks!
Will be back to visit! Love your stuff!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hey Brandi! New follower here! Love the basket! Dont you hate it when you want something to come off and its like they cemented it to it! I do have an idea, you could go to like lowes or home depot and buy you a house number and paint it to match your basket it and place it over the heart;)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I have an old wooden basket that I was thinking about re-doing just this morning. Thanks for the inspiration to actually get it done! I'm your newest follower.
