Growing up in New Jersey, I remember my mom drinking hot tea in the evenings. We rarely drank iced tea, but when we did, it was the canned or bottled kinds; like Snapple or Brisk.
Now that I live in the South, I've come to enjoy a glass of iced tea.
Sweet tea is popular in Georgia. You can order it at any restaurant. It's preferred over soda!
Along with fresh peaches and lemon juice, it's so refreshing and full of flavor. It's the perfect drink on a hot summer day!
Ingredients
5 individual tea bags
4 cups of water
1-1/2 pounds of fresh peaches, ripe and sweet; pitted (no need to peel the skin)
1 cup of sugar
juice from 2 lemons
ice cubes
sliced, fresh peaches for garnish
Directions
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep 3 to 5 minutes. *The longer you steep, the stronger the tea flavor. Remove tea bags and add sugar, stir until dissolved. Set aside. Using a blender or a food processor, puree peaches then strain liquid through a sieve to remove pulp. Add the strained puree to a 1/2 gallon pitcher. Stir in lemon juice and pour in tea mixture. Add sliced, fresh peaches and serve over ice. Enjoy!

Oh Brandi! I LOVE peach tea! The first time I had it was at a volunteer appreciation tea at my son's elementary school. So, so good! I'm adding this recipe to my "beverage" section of my cookbook. Thanks!!

ReplyDeleteMinus the sugar (whispering... please dont tell the tea patrol, I do not like sugar in my tea) If I am found out I could be kicked out of Ga. Your photo truly looks delish.
This looks so refreshing Brandi! We rarely drink tea at home but might have to try this one.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi! Growing up in KY, you'd think I would be a fan of iced tea. For some reason though I've never really developed a taste for it. I must say though that this does look quite good!
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds wonderful! Perfect for Summer!
ReplyDeleteThat tea looks soooo refreshing. The only peach tea that I've had is Crystal Light, so I can't wait to try making it on my own. Thanks so much for sharing, Brandi... :
ReplyDeleteMan I miss sweet tea more than anything else now that I live in Cali. Well almost more than anything...blue crab is right up there too. Peach tea is my fav! Thanks so much for sharing and giving me a dose of home my friend:)
ReplyDeleteI totally believe what you say about sweet tea being preferred over soda. When we were visiting Georgia, sweet tea was the FIRST beverage on the drinks menu rather than buried somewhere in there like it is here! And man, is it ever sweet!!!!!!! Y'all take your sugar in the tea VERY seriously!!! :-)
ReplyDeletePeach tea sounds great, especially using fresh peaches!!!! Pinning!
Dear sweet Brandi!
ReplyDeleteI love peach anything! Your tea looks quite refreshing :0) Wish I were nearby so that I could pop in for a visit and a refreshing glass of tea.
I hope you're having a great start to you week!
